Diamonds are arguably the most coveted gems in history. The word diamond refers to its hardness (Greek- adamas, the unconquerable) – there is no other gemstone comparable to diamonds in hardness. Uncut diamonds adorned the suits of armour of great knights; cut diamonds have atoned the crowns of kings and queens throughout the ages. Today it is internationally recognised as a symbol of love – no better reason for its presence in the engagement ring!
She who from April dates her years,
Diamonds shall wear,
lest bitter tears
For vain repentance flow.
